Hello art fans!
Munich really is the Bavarian capital of Art. With more than 70 museums and many bigger and smaller galleries Munich offers literally art for everyone – all around our city. The offer ranges from big well known museums like the Bavarian National Museum or the German Museum to hidden secrets.
One of them we would like to introduce you today 🙂 As we are getting more and more into art it was a great pleasure for us to discover a new spot in Munich where we didn`t expected to find contemporary art from changing artists.
You`ll find the place within the building from the insurance company LV1871 at Maximiliansplatz 5 in Munich. This building used to be the famous “Regina-Palast-Hotel” which has been quite famous back in these days. As you can imagine the entrance hall is quite big and shiny and therefore it’s just a great idea to use this place as a living art gallery that is free for every visitor.
As they change the exhibition on a regular basis it makes sense to either step by regularly or have a look at their website to see what’s displayed at the moment. They have an extra website for their “Art im Foyer” Go to website
The current exhibition
Is called “Beschleunigtes Paradies” that means “Accelerated Paradise” and according the artist HC Ohl “Acceleration is experienced through things like vehicles but also in the fast change of social processes”. The biggest eye catchers (for us) hung directly at the entrance. Especially the picture of the traffic in New York combined with a painting was just amazing to see.
The source material of HC Ohl’s work are photographs, which he continues to process digitally. Distortions, overlays, and creative artwork creates complex artworks presented in large-format fine-art prints. Before you see the exhibition it might be very helpful to read an interview from HC Ohl to make sure to get all the details right. Here you`ll find the full interview with HC Ohl where he explains his thoughts behind his artwork- so take a look! Read full interview with HC Ohl
